Cross River Rail and New Generation Rollingstock, Queensland Government, Australia.
Editing multiple authors to present consistent business cases and RFPs.
The project
The Queensland Government is delivering two of its most significant transport infrastructure projects, which will shape how Brisbane City residents travel to and from the urban centre. I was a member of both project teams during the development of their business cases.
Business cases must adhere to the Queensland Government Business Case Development Framework, which ensures a consistent and rigourous approach to proposal development, allowing decision-makers to compare investment opportunities.
The task
For Cross River Rail, an underground heavy rail project, I worked with experts to write and edit chapters of the 800-page funding submission to the Australian Government. The challenge was to ensure the writing style was consistent across multiple subject areas (investment logic, benefits, stakeholder engagement, cost-benefit analysis) and by various authors (engineers, environmental specialists, and legal experts).
For the New Generation Rollingstock Project, the largest single investment by Queensland in trains, I edited contributions from 27 authors to the business case and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents. Given the RFP served as the primary style guide for bidders competing to win the multi-million-dollar contract, an added challenge was ensuring that we applied any updates consistently across the ‘moving parts’ of the package of RFP documents.
The outcomes
“I have worked with Robyn on multiple large infrastructure projects during the feasibility assessment phase and have always been impressed by her ability to process and present complex concepts and issues clearly and effectively. Her written communication skills are excellent!
Robyn is dedicated, professional, and knows how to interact well within multidisciplinary and dynamic teams.”
